Meet the school with no classes, no classrooms and no curriculum

This is a wonderful article, highlighting the innovation, creativity and forward thinking of a Dutch school.

For me this is an inspiring, visionary and urgently needed reset.

I have oft felt that we are tied to a 19th Century model of delivery, no matter how much ICT is used.

It certainly made me think about current curriculum demands, and perhaps it will make you reflect too?

Let me know what you think!

  1. This is a great article. Learning without assessment and not having to follow SQA rules! You would need great teachers though to make this successful. Liked reading this.

  2. Yes, I must agree anon. My own teaching philosophy is somewhere in between the expected and the unexpected. That is to say, we have to do lots of what I would call 'scaffolding' to make sure that all my students understand what they need to do to achieve given assessments, but crucially, why they need to do so. Assessments are more fluid than they once were in my opinion, and this is one of the reasons I pay so much attention to group work, ensuring everybody has an equal voice and always, always, always, that everybody's opinion is recognised and valued, regardless of whether we agree with them or not. This model fascinates me, and I may contact them one day to see if they will allow a visitor from Motherwell to see them at work. You never know! All other comments welcomed, as always. Mark
