Thank you to James who mailed me over the weekend with this beaut of a TED talk.
If you haven't yet watched any TED talks, please do. I find it a great resource for teaching and also for leisure, as the presenters often (not always) inspire. They have something to say, and deliver in their own ways.
Young Mr. MacKay noted that he will certainly take on board some of the messages in this delivery, although he wasn't sure whether he would be standing doing the exercises in the corridor before the discussion assessment!
Nice one and I hope you enjoy this talk.

I think it is mostly down to confidence. Confidence is key, like most things in life, having confidence in yourself as a person, and your ability. Using your communication skills you have learnt will be a huge positive factor to conduct yourself better, speaking clearly so you are heard, and are confident in your focal points and being ready for possible questions from people listening. Always being prepared.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I’m always gratified to hear students tell me after working with me that confidence is the biggest skill / trait they feel they develop in classes, groupwork, presentations, even blogging. Every student in the class (even at this stage) is likely to be feeling a little calmer in themselves by now. Great comments Jordan.
